Upon arrival to an exclusive and invited-only event, we were taken to a behind-the-scenes tour which begins at Kai Tak Gallery on the ground level of Kai Tak Stadium, for the history of the location. The gallery exhibition depicts the past, when Kai Tak began serving the nation in 1930 as an airport for both military and civil aviation, as well as the evolution that occurred over the years. It also depicts the current status of this 280,000 sqm piece of land, once the North Apron of Kai Tak Airport. Kai Tak Stadium with seating capacity of 50,000 is the principal attraction of the precinct, with its exterior design referencing “Pearl of the Orient” with a retractable roof and flexible pitch system. Its innovative design and construction technologies are impressive, and visitors are encouraged to touch samples of the stadium’s triangular façade while learning about the cutting-edge technology that keeps the grass on the pitch growing well.

Upon this exclusive behind-the-scenes tour continues to the Player Changing Room which includes showers, changing areas and a warm-up space. Guests are then brought onto the pitch, and can sit in the substitute seats to experience the players’ point of view, as well as hear an introduction to the daily operations during the turf-in phase before hosting any major sporting events. The South Stand is next on the schedule. This 1,600 sqm area boasts a magnificent view of Victoria Harbour through the large window. The tour concludes in The Champion, which has 64 beer taps and serves ice-cold beer throughout the event. On non-event days, The Champion welcomes the public to come and enjoy a one-of-a-kind culinary experience right next to the pitch.

For events happening at Kai Tak Stadium, Marriott Bonvoy Moments™ presents the Bonvoy Suite experience where members can enjoy the unparalleled experience of savouring the sports and entertainment from the best seats in the stadium.
