Honouring its laidback philosophy and rustic chic aesthetic, the island will remain an intimate and sustainable paradise for the barefoot luxury traveller, with a new design concept and wellness programmes to further enrich the guest experience. Originally opened in 2012, Gili Lankanfushi was previously voted ‘Best Hotel in the World’ by TripAdvisor for its relaxed air and impeccable service. Located in the languid waters of the North Malé Atoll, just a 20-minute speedboat ride from Malé, it is the ultimate place to get away from the world. The 45 refurbished villas will offer open-air living spaces, roof terraces and private decks with direct access to the lagoon below, and the revamped Residence and Villa suites will feature private pools, providing greater convenience for guests. The Family Villas with Pools are a new addition to the resort featuring two en suite bedrooms, a private swimming pool for children to splash in the sunshine, a rooftop terrace for additional space to dine and play, as well as a living room situated over the lagoon and accessible from a safe walkway. Interior Design The island’s natural surroundings, culture, and sustainability are very much at the heart of the property’s design to create synergy and cohesiveness between the external and internal environments. A warm, neutral palette is accented by colourful, locally sourced fabrics and every piece of furniture in the new villas and living areas are custom made by skilled local craftsmen using a variety of upcycled materials. These include charming recycled teakwood bed frames, lampshades handwoven from recycled wire mesh incorporating fish and sea turtles from the surrounding waters and cushion fabrics handprinted with coral patterns found on the reefs. The iconic riverfront bar at Anantara Riverside Bangkok has reopened on 31 October 2019 with a revamped décor and an inventive all-new menu. Named after traditional longtail boats that chug up and down the mighty Chao Praya, Longtail by the River pays homage to the city’s main water artery and its storied history.  Bangkok’s riverfront heritage is experiencing an unprecedented revival as evidenced by a spate of development projects ranging from hip art centers to mega malls. What is now a time warp of abandoned World War II-era warehouses, labyrinthine alleyways and tumbledown shophouses is being integrated into the sprawling metropolis at a formidable speed. Longtail guests are well-placed to contemplate the passage of time from the bar’s plush outdoor sofas overlooking the Chao Praya and the futuristic city skyline. At sunset, when the river traffic peaks, the contrast between Bangkok’s entrepot heritage and unbridled modernity is particularly striking.  This evocative confluence of old and new was masterfully captured by Bangkok-based design firm greymatters tasked with redesigning the venue. At this modern, al fresco space overlooking the river, natural materials such as wood, metal and stone interact in intricate, symmetrical patterns. While the imposing circular bar acts as a centerpiece, quieter-looking Italian-style communal table and a swing daybed for two ensure that guests’ undivided attention remains on the main attraction—the river.  Mixologists busy at work at the imposing sala at water’s edge will shake up adventurous-sounding sunset cocktails, premium gin and tonics served with pomegranate seeds, lime and lemongrass and signature build-your-own ginny beverages.  Playful Liquid Mango Sticky Rice cocktail features kai coconut pandan vodka, mango, rice water and coconut cream, while the signature Silent Monk libation is made with durian-infused gin, Maraschino Luxardo, hibiscus tonic water and is served with durian chips. There is also an array of chilled local craft beers, premium champagne and imported and local wines.  Diving deep into the local culinary tradition, the Longtail’s new menu brings together regional cuisines from across the kingdom: from northern sai oua sausages to Isaan som tum with grilled pork neck to southern green curry with roti. Some other menu highlights include poo nim tod kra-tiam—fried soft-shell crab with garlic and Sriracha sauce, massamun kae—creamy lamb shank curry and pad cha nor mai ta lay—briny sea asparagus with green peppercorn and holy basil. Arguably the best way to experience Longtail is by arriving by river shuttle departing from BTS Saphan Taksin and offering complimentary rides to Anantara Riverside. The bar is open daily from 1.00 pm to 1.00 am and is ideal for afternoon beers, sunset cocktails, dinner and a nightcap with live music.  For more information or to make reservation, please contact +66 2 476 0022

As a fast-growing city, the number of multinational enterprises escalates, so does the number of expatriates from around the world. The more the city flourishes, the more it attracts tourists. Apparently, Phnom Penh is now a multicultural modern town where people can have fine, edible comforts as in other major cities around the world, plus one-of-a-kind charms of authentic Cambodian cuisine. THE FRENCH INFLUENCE One of the most recognisable features of Phnom Penh city is the trace of Colonial influences intermingling with Cambodian ambience and young skyscrapers. The French influence that lives on from Cambodia’s so-far-gone history is so palpable in Phnom Penh, especially in its dining scene. In Phnom Penh, a multitude of French diners are at hand if you want to try some, and many of them serves authentic French taste. On the Okha Ket Street, Bouchon Wine Bar is a colonial house with homemade French cuisine in the cosiest setting, serving different dishes from day to night. Apart from choices of wines, its home-made Rose Sangria is a must-try. There are a lot more places to have it the French way, but Bouchon Wine Bar is one of the best ones downtown. Another unmissable stop is Brasserie Louis at Rosewood Phnom Penh, where top-notch French tastes and authentic Cambodian dishes are feasted in the midst of marvellous panoramas of Phnom Penh city. Also at Rosewood Phnom Penh, Patisserie is the place to delight in fine pastries and desserts crafted with real French technique. HAVE IT HEALTHY Vegans and health aficionados are going to love it in Phnom Penh, as the city is bustling with scrumptious vegan-friendly dishes and healthy bowls. To grab some, Eleven One BKK1 is a house in a verdant garden with a myriad of health- and environmentally-friendly choices made from local produces and with zero MSG. Popular is the one-off Amok Burger and Khmer Beef Steak. There is an out-of-the-ordinary alley hidden in the city, and it is the Street 240 ½. The alley is home to artsy venues and fascinating street art, as well as the fantastic ARTillery Café. On the menu for this easy-going café are creative healthy choices, which can be the ideal breakfast to have on a regular basis. Its Poke Bowl fills up the stomach so well and tastes great. Its smoothies and superfood dishes are also worth loving. Aside from the aforementioned spots, vegan and healthy options are available at many restaurants and cafés, so don’t worry about your health plan once you are in Phnom Penh. DRINK THE DRINKS As previously stated, with the Western influences, wines and cocktails can be commonly found at most restaurants. For the ultimate drinkable experience, recommended is Sora Sky Bar at Rosewood Phnom Penh. Even though it is famous for its unbeatable views from the 37th floor, especially during sunset, its drinks are indeed second to none. With highly-skilled bartenders, whether you want to sip classics, signatures, or tailor-made glasses, you are sure to be elated. Rare whiskies are also its strong suit. In Phnom Penh, with big and microbreweries on site, the
