Hong Kong’s Newest Retail Landmark K11 MUSEA is Now Open

K11 MUSEA, Asia’s most forward-thinking cultural-retail destination in the heart of Hong Kong’s Victoria Dockside, has opened its doors to the public. With over 100 design modules created in collaboration with over 100 creative powers and a stellar roster of gastronomy and retail concepts that include 20 first-in-Asia brands, K11 MUSEA is inspired to be “A Muse by the Sea” to enrich the everyday life of the modern consumer.

K11 MUSEA is set to be a pioneering landmark in the cultural-retail landscape. It is an architectural design marvel that draws on the collective expertise of over 100 international and local architects, artists and designers, and visitors will find a thoughtful curation of top fashion brands and concepts that will serve up new in-store experiences that seamlessly meld art and design with shopping. This expands first and foremost into the retail tenants which call K11 MUSEA home, including first MoMA Design Store in Greater China and the largest in Asia, Asia’s first Fortnum & Mason store and restaurant, and Moda Operandi’s first showroom in Asia, to name a few.

The creative collective includes pioneering names from the world of design, such as Kohn Pedersen Fox, James Corner Field Operations and OMA, led by famed Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas and David Gianotten, that have all come together to create a place for communities to share and gain new experiences and knowledge capital.

Key design features include Opera Theatre (K11 MUSEA’s atrium) which features The Gold Ball, the beating heart of this muse by the sea and a multi-dimensional creative space within the complex. This impressive statement installation is made up of giant spherical chambers acting as a versatile space for ground-breaking exhibitions and events.

DISCOVER YOUR FASHION MUSE

Fashion boutiques like Yohji Yamamoto, Kenzo, Roger Vivier and even eco-friendly British accessory brand Bottletop all showcase exclusive façades and in-store designs for their K11 stores intended to spark customers’ imaginations. At Yohji Yamamoto, nature is recreated with the Japanese gardens-inspired store concept composed of a monochrome, minimalist look, allowing shoppers to experience a zen atmosphere while browsing through the collection; its breakwater-inspired installations also playfully pay tribute to the shop’s close proximity to the harbour. Exclusive to K11 MUSEA, a special multi-coloured tapestry of Kenzo’s iconic tiger displayed at the store entrance provides a strikingly bold welcome for customers; at Roger Vivier, the works of over 10 world-renowned artists are displayed throughout the store, a nod to the French luxury accessories brand’s values of rarity, creativity and exclusivity. As its first retail store in Asia, Bottletop’s entire store is fabricated from aluminium, recycled acrylics and repurposed everyday materials, reflecting the brand’s commitment to sustainability and creating a thought-provoking shopping experience.

In its first overseas campus outside of Paris, L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, with the support of High Jewelry Maison Van Cleef & Arpels, will extend its educational programming to Asia to offer accessible, hands-on engagement for anyone interested in the world of jewellery. The school, designed by famed architect Sou Fujimoto, spans over two levels and features a specialised library on jewellery arts. Cult favourite Off-White offers pieces exclusive to K11 MUSEA, and customers can pre-order next season’s looks and receive expert styling advice from fashion discovery platform Moda Operandi’s first Asia Pacific showroom.

A SUMPTUOUS COFFEE AND TEA SANCTUARY

The complex presents a curation of some of the best artisanal coffee providers globally, including Japan’s beloved Omotesando Koffee and its sister bean-specialist shop Koffee Mameya, which will carry coffee varieties from all around the world. % Arabica will caffeinate KUBE, a cube-shaped kiosk along the promenade designed by acclaimed architects Rem Koolhaas and David Gianotten to encourage communal dialogue and sharing over coffee and magnificent views of the harbour. Popular Hong Kong brand Coffee Academics will present an interactive format where customers can learn more about their coffee choices through an app. Be ready for a celebrity sighting at Blooms Coffee, the first permanent specialty coffee shop by award-winning Hong Kong actor and coffee specialist Moses Chan.

Fans of British institution Fortnum & Mason will be treated to an exclusive tea ware collection at its first retail and restaurant flagship in the world, and will serve K11 MUSEA-exclusive tea blends at its tearoom. HEYTEA LAB, the Asian flagship of iconic Chinese tea brand HEYTEA integrates retail offerings and a playground.

40+ STAR-STUDDED GASTRONOMIC EXPERIENCES

Gourmands will be spoilt for choice with over 40 star-studded gastronomic experiences at K11 MUSEA. Yung Kee, one of Hong Kong’s most recognisable roast goose eateries and bastion of Cantonese heritage cuisine, will also unveil its first contemporary branch Yung’s Bistro. Other entrants to look out for include Soil to Soul, a spiritual culinary experience by famed temple food guru and Buddhist nun-chef Wookwan, and the Michelin-starred Tominokoji Yamagishi, which brings its revered approach to kaiseki in a cosy, 1,000-square-foot space. Gitone, one of the first restaurants in Hong Kong to blend gastronomy with art, has opened a private Chinese dining kitchen where guests can dine amongst exquisite ceramic art and even take lessons from founder Terrence Lee.

Not to be missed is K11 Bakery House, a haven for pastry lovers helmed by celebrity master baker Gontran Cherrier who brings his signature brand of boulangerie and delectable French pastries to Hong Kong for the first time. Tardemah Bakery will also be serving its signature Ssuktteok bread, made from mugwort and sticky rice cake at K11 MUSEA. The bakery – already well-loved in Korea – is also known for their creative use of rich fillings like Oreo, chocolate, figs, and cream cheeses in its mix of sweet and savoury breads.

From 2 November and for the first time in Hong Kong, gourmet enthusiasts can also look to gain knowledge and experience at the world’s top cooking academy, Le Cordon Bleu. As part of a three-year partnership with K11 MUSEA to bring a new level of culinary appreciation to Hong Kong, Le Cordon Bleu has co-curated a range of cooking courses led by celebrated master chefs for visitors to sign up for.

The courses have been tailored to suit all ages and levels of experience, including family- friendly classes. Also exclusive to K11 MUSEA is the programme “MUSE”, which features short-term half-day sessions to intensive three- or five-day courses.
