When your body and mind yearn for ‘vitamin sea’, you plunge yourself wholeheartedly into the beauty of nature where the white foam of the turquoise sea laps the stretching sandy beach repeatedly. And Mason Pattaya is where you should be.
Setting the Scene
A mere two hours’ drive from downtown Bangkok and I was in a paradise! The ultra-modern architecture of Mason greeted me upon arrival, on par with the professional service of the staff who eagerly managed my belongings and sent them to the appointed villa. The mood and tone of the ambience is second to none, I told myself as we made our way through the cave-like path with the sea and the horizon as the backdrop. Mason is an all-villa resort with only 35 villas in total. Hence, the resort would not be too busy to enjoy at any time. The 150-metre sandy beach was bliss and I could guarantee that this part of Pattaya is tranquil and quiet, while the fun and the happenings are within easy reach at central Pattaya. Sundecks and beanbags are dotted on the beach. I could not wait to hit there at once.
Getting Comfortable
With the spirited design aspect of the villa, one has to walk down the stairs from the rooftop in order to reach the entrance of the room. Doing so, the experience opens you to the panoramic view of the ocean meeting the sky at the horizon, while the at-ease private pool laps at your feet. The room was majestic with a lounge area upfront and the comfy vast bed tucked away. The bathroom is designed to be separated from the bedroom and occupy as much space, I would say – at least the customised bath was one of the biggest I ever encountered. A dilemma hit me hard now as I first planned to unwind on one of the sundecks on the beach, then changed my mind to the private one sitting in front of the bedroom. However, after seeing the bath and the serene pool, I decided that I had to get wet during this relaxation session so I waited no time to plunge myself in.
Dining Options
Three food outlets stand bold to treat every palate with the compliment of the sea within sight. Zila Street Bistro & Bar is a casual dining spot where you could choose to unwind with great food both indoors and outdoors. The menu is of great diversity as it features from Thai to Western alike. Our favourite dishes were Pomelo and Crispy Coconut Salad, Vegetable & Edible Flower Roll and Pizza Salami. Make sure you leave some room for dessert since the Banoffee Split – chocolate crust with banana brulee and salted caramel served with vanilla cream – was totally irresistible. To savour the sea to the maximum, Beachside Bar is located right on the beach with trendy chairs on the terrace and a patio for you to sip your preferred drinks. At dusk, move up to Krok-a-Café Espresso Bar to enjoy the sunset on the horizon by the outdoor pool. Soft drinks, juices, cocktails, as well as snack and finger foosd, are available here till late at night.
Why I’d Return
When luxury teams up with supreme privacy, one could lavish the beauty of nature in a solemn sanctuary and is able to allow the true self to unveil. It’s a real escape and bonus to life. Why wouldn’t I want to return?
One or Two Quibbles …
The design of the hotel is not quite kid friendly. Hence, it would be most suitable for honeymooners and couples rather than a family vacation.
